Wetlands provide a disproportionately high number of ecosystem services that benefit, sustain and support the environmental, social and economic well-being of people which in turn support diverse communities of invertebrates, primary consumers from crustaceans, molluscs, aquatic insect larvae to algae, plants and wide variety of birds and other vertebrates. Thus, wetlands maintain biologically diverse communities of ecological and economic value.
Our aim is to significantly contribute to the wetland research on biodiversity documentation, a foremost importance in the conservation of wetlands across the country. Increasing recognition of the value and importance of wetland ecosystems, our division has to play a crucial role by giving useful information and knowledge in aspects of policy making plans to restore and protect our valuable wetland resources.
